WTO Public Forum Session: 69
Trading Culture, Powering Futures: Sustainable Tourism and Creative Services for Youth and Gender Empowerment

The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) is pleased to be part of Session 69 of the WTO Public Forum 2026, titled “Trading Culture, Powering Futures: Sustainable Tourism and Creative Services for Youth and Gender Empowerment,” to be held on 17 September 2026, from 9:00–10:00 AM at the WTO Library, Geneva. The session will bring together leading scholars and experts from the Global South to reflect on how trade can support the growth and resilience of sustainable tourism and creative services while creating meaningful opportunities for women, youth, and MSMEs. Discussions will focus on areas such as GATS modernisation, protection of traditional knowledge through intellectual property, sustainable trade facilitation, formalisation, and improved market access, with the broader aim of exploring how the multilateral trading system can contribute to a more inclusive, resilient, and future-oriented global services economy.

WTO Public Forum Session: 83
Services Trade in the Digital Era: Global South Perspectives

The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) is pleased to organise Session 83 of the WTO Public Forum 2026, titled “Services Trade in the Digital Era: Global South Perspectives,” on 17 September 2026 from 12:00–1:00 PM in Room D. The session will bring together policymakers, industry experts, and academics to discuss how developing countries can harness technology, innovation, and services trade to support their development goals. The discussion will focus on the need for stronger technological and regulatory infrastructure, while ensuring that emerging opportunities are not constrained by regulation, and will explore how trade, technology, innovation, and international partnerships can work together to strengthen services trade and promote inclusive growth across the Global South.

WTO Public Forum Session: 102
WTO Reform and Practical Action

The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) is pleased to highlight Session 102 of the WTO Public Forum 2026, titled WTO Reform and Practical Action,” organised by the University of Zurich and scheduled for 17 September 2026 from 3:45–4:45 PM in Room D. The session will bring together economists, academics, WTO representatives, and WTO Chairs to discuss the future of the multilateral trading system and consider practical pathways for advancing WTO reform. The discussion will look beyond identifying areas that require change to also consider what Members and the Secretariat can do within the existing framework, with policy-oriented perspectives followed by reflections from WTO Chairs Prof. Amrita Bahri and Prof. Dr. James J. Nedumpara, and a moderated discussion with WTO Chief Economist Robert Staiger. The session aims to foster a constructive and forward-looking conversation on developing practical ideas that can contribute both to the longer-term reform of the WTO and to meaningful action within its existing rules and institutions.
