The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL), in collaboration with O.P. Jindal Global University, is organising a panel discussion on “Carbon Pricing and Climate Actions: Exploring Innovative Options under Trade Agreements” on 08 April 2026 at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. The session will examine the compliance challenges faced by the Indian industry, particularly in relation to measures such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). It will also consider the issue of offsetting carbon prices already paid in third countries and the legal difficulties in demonstrating that the carbon pricing measures of third countries (such as India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme) are equivalent to those of the importing country. The discussion will further evaluate the role of the India–EU Free Trade Agreement in bridging the regulatory and accreditation gaps and explore possible ways to streamline compliance.
