Pre-Summit International Colloquium on Global Trade Careers, the WTO’s 30-Year Legacy, and Future Pathways

06 February 2026 11:00 am
Raipur
The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL), in collaboration with Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur (HNLU) through its Centre for WTO & WIPO Studies, School of Law and Technology, is associated with the organisation of the International Trade Law Summit titled “The WTO@30 Summit”, scheduled to be held from 2-4 October 2026 at the HNLU campus, Raipur. The Summit is being convened to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and seeks to facilitate high-level academic and policy-oriented engagement on contemporary challenges and reform trajectories within the multilateral trading system. As a lead-up to the Summit, a One-Day Pre-Summit International Colloquium on “Global Trade Careers, the WTO’s 30-Year Legacy, and Future Pathways” will be organised on 6 February 2026. The Colloquium will bring together students, research scholars, academicians, and trade practitioners to engage with the institutional evolution of the WTO, emerging issues in global trade governance, and professional pathways in international trade law and policy. The Colloquium will also mark the formal launch of the International Forum for Trade Advocacy & Research (IF-TAR), a dedicated platform aimed at strengthening advocacy, research, and capacity-building in international trade law. The WTO@30 Summit will feature technical paper presentation sessions, thematic panel discussions on key areas such as digital trade, sustainable development, competition policy, and institutional reform, and a Mock WTO Simulation-the first of its kind in India-designed to provide students and young professionals with hands-on exposure to multilateral trade negotiations and decision-making processes.
