Strengthening Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Market Access: Need for Standards and Compliance

The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL), in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Eurofins Assurance, organized a stakeholder dialogue on “Strengthening Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Market Access: Need for Standards and Compliance” on 29 May 2026 in Hyderabad. The programme brought together policymakers, industry representatives, healthcare professionals, and compliance experts to discuss the role of standards, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance in enhancing India's competitiveness in global healthcare and pharmaceutical value chains. Discussions focused on market access challenges, evolving regulatory requirements, and opportunities arising from international trade agreements and regulatory cooperation. The event featured welcome remarks by Mr. Sumanta Chaudhuri, Principal Advisor, International Trade Policy Division, CII, and context-setting remarks by Mr. Ashit Kundra, Regional Director – Healthcare Assurance Asia, Eurofins Assurance. The technical sessions included contributions from Mr. Vishishth Malhotra, Associate, CTIL; Dr. Aparna Dhawan, Global Director, Eurofins Assurance; Dr. Saurabh Lall, Chief Operating Officer, KIMS Hospitals; and Mr. Sapan Panda, Technical Manager Asia – Healthcare Assurance, Eurofins Assurance. A key highlight of the programme was the launch of the CII International Trade Policy Outcome Report 2025–26, supported by CTIL and the Centre for WTO Studies (CWS), featuring remarks by Dr. James J. Nedumpara, Head, CTIL, and Dr. Pritam Banerjee, Head, CWS. The programme also included a presentation by Ms. Tanvi Praveen, Consultant, CTIL, on the services of the Trade Remedies Advisory Cell (TRAC). The discussions underscored the importance of standards, regulatory preparedness, and policy cooperation in strengthening market access, export competitiveness, and India's integration into global healthcare value chains.
