III CTIL-Bennett International Moot Court Competition

06-08 February 2026 09:00 am
08:00 pm
The III CTIL-Bennett International Moot Court Competition 2026, held from 6–8 February 2026 at the School of Law, Bennett University, brought together students, scholars, and practitioners for three days of engaging courtroom debate and academic exchange. Organised with the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) under the WTO Chairs Programme, the competition explored contemporary questions linking international trade law, labour rights, and sustainable development. The moot problem centred on alleged labour standards violations under a Free Trade Agreement, prompting participants to examine how trade rules increasingly intersect with domestic regulation and social safeguards. As teams progressed through successive rounds, they presented arguments before panels of academics, practitioners, and CTIL experts, whose feedback brought valuable policy and real-world insight into the discussions. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Justice Rajesh Bindal, Judge, Supreme Court of India, who reflected on constitutional values and the role of legal institutions. The valedictory ceremony featured an address by Justice Pankaj Mithal, Judge, Supreme Court of India, and was attended by distinguished scholars and practitioners including Prof. Henry Gao, Prof. (Dr.) V. K. Ahuja, Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Mr. Vineet Vij, Dr. James J. Nedumpara, and Dr. Sasmit Patra. The event concluded with awards recognising excellence in research and advocacy, while also creating a meaningful space for learning, mentorship, and deeper engagement with international trade law.
