Seminar on India-United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement

The Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL), in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), successfully organised a Seminar on India – United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA): Unlocking Rajasthan Export Potential” on 15 October 2025 at Hotel ITC Rajputana, Jaipur. The event brought together key policymakers, trade experts, and industry representatives to explore emerging opportunities under the India-UK CETA framework. The Seminar featured a distinguished Inaugural Session with the Keynote Address delivered by Mr. Stephen Hickling, Deputy High Commissioner to Gujarat & Rajasthan, British High Commission in India, and a Special Address by Mr. Sandeep Verma, Additional Chief Secretary, Ministry of Skills, Employment & Entrepreneurship, Government of Rajasthan. Insightful remarks were shared by Mr. Manish Gupta, Member, FICCI Rajasthan State Council; Mr. Ridhish Rajvanshi, Senior Research Fellow, CTIL; Dr. Prof. Rakesh Mohan Joshi, Vice Chancellor, IIFT; Mr. Rohit Gupta, IAS, Commissioner – Industries & Commerce, Government of Rajasthan; Dr. Niraj K. Pawan, Secretary – Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Rajasthan; Mr. Krishna Goyal, Member, FICCI Rajasthan State Council; and Mr. Atul Sharma, Director & Head, FICCI Rajasthan State Council, highlighting the strategic importance of the India-UK CETA in enhancing bilateral trade, creating new market opportunities, and reinforcing economic partnerships. Following the inaugural discussions, the Seminar featured technical presentations chaired by Mr. Akshay Hada, Member, FICCI Rajasthan State Council & CMD, Akshay Infrasys Industries Pvt. Ltd., including detailed insights from Mr. Sattwik Shekhar, Consultant, CTIL on Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT); Mr. Navindra Goyal, Director, Dwarka Gems Ltd, on industry perspectives; Ms. Udita Sharma, Young Professional, CTIL, on the Services chapter; and Ms. Krishna Bhattacharya, Associate, CTIL, highlighting CTIL Trade Remedies Advisory Cell’s role in supporting the agreement’s implementation. The event concluded with an engaging exchange of perspectives between government, academia, and industry, emphasizing how Rajasthan can leverage the India-UK CETA to emerge as a significant player in the global trade ecosystem.
