Workshop on Unlocking Global Markets: New FTAs, CBAM Challenge and Digital Opportunities,

01 August 2025 10 AM
Hyatt Regency, Kolkata
A Workshop on Unlocking Global Markets: New FTAs, CBAM Challenge, and Digital Opportunities was convened by the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) under the aegis of the India WTO Chairs Programme. The event was held on August 1, 2025, at the Hyatt Hotel in Kolkata. The primary objective of the workshop was to underscore the pivotal role of forthcoming free trade agreements (FTAs) in India’s potential growth trajectory and to emphasise the imperative of industry awareness. The workshop engaged in in-depth discussions on India’s recent FTA engagements, climate-related trade barriers such as the European Union’s CBAM, and the evolving regulatory framework governing digitally delivered services. A key focus of the workshop was to provide insights into how businesses can align themselves with FTAs to secure preferential market access, overcome non-tariff barriers, and enhance their global competitiveness and explore the future of digitally delivered services and e-commerce within the global trade system. Furthermore, the workshop examined the implications of CBAM for the Indian industry and India’s ongoing diplomatic and policy responses.
