Harshita Calla is a Young Professional at the Centre for Trade and Investment Law (CTIL), where she assists the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India on critical trade and investment matters. With a strong academic background and a keen interest in international trade law, she has developed a profound understanding of public and private international law.
She has a LL.M. in International Law, with a specialisation in International Economic Law from the Geneva Graduate Institute, where she graduated cum laude. During the course of her LL.M., she worked alongside a team on a proposal by UNCTAD to map and analyse provisions related to ‘Movement of Natural Persons’ in FTAs from 2010-2023. The final findings and conclusions were presented before UNCTAD at the UN Office in Geneva, Switzerland. Her LL.M. thesis titled “Courting Trade: An Affair of Trade Related Dispute Settlement Outside the World Trade Organisation” explores dispute resolution mechanisms for international trade and economic disputes outside the WTO.
She holds a B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) from O. P. Jindal Global University, she gained valuable knowledge about Indian domestic law and international law. The knowledge gained in classrooms was enhanced through her internship experiences, where she was able to bridge the gap between theory and practice.
