Shiny possesses expertise in international trade law, with key areas of her work including trade and environment, trade in services, and industrial policy. Shiny advises the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India on legal and policy issues pertaining to environment, labour, gender and trade in services. She has been part of the negotiating teams in many of India’s recent and ongoing trade negotiations in the trade and sustainable development (and trade in services) Chapters, including the India-EFTA TEPA, India-Australia ECTA, India-UK CETA and India-UAE CEPA.
Shiny also works on industrial policy issues, specifically from a sustainability perspective. She has been actively involved in the research on the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (EU CBAM), European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), domestic regulation reforms in the services sector in India, and studies for revamping the Special Economic Zones in India. Shiny completed her B.A.LLB. from National Law Institute University Bhopal, and LL.M. from National Law Institute University, Delhi. She also qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) with the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) organised by University Grants Commission, India.
